So because that song has been stuck in my mind all day long...I think I will share something I wrote on typetrigger a while ago...it fits in with the theme and seeing as I have about a billion things that need tending to, I am sure you won't mind if I cheat a little.
(and notice...no tags on the blue jeans in the above picture )
Blue Jeans
You know, back in the day only "cowboys" and heavy laborers wore jeans. Then somewhere along the way, the early 80's maybe? It seemed suddenly only the really cool people wore jeans, and they couldn't be just ANY jean..they had to be Guess, or Gerbeaus, Jordache or whatever passed for cool in your neck of the woods. Of course in school you have to be careful to wear the right thing. Blue jeans, would be one of those things. But...if they didn't have that "tag".. you know, the triangular Guess tag or the Joradache on the back pocket.. then you were in for it. Especially if you were the new girl..the one who says "y'all" and "Hey" instead of "Hi" the one with the funny accent. The one who can't afford new clothes. The one who made the mistake of wearing a pair of Guess jeans her mom found at a garage sale, but had the triangular patch ripped off by who ever had the jeans previous to that. The one who stepped on the bus first day of school wearing those jeans (with a NEW shirt her mom had saved up for ) only to have the girl next to her point out ( so the whole bus could hear of course) "Hey! those were MY Jeans! my mom just sold them in a garage sale last week!" Really...what are the chances? So...apparently only the NEW jeans could make you cool..right?
I'm not bitter. I still wear blue jeans..I mean it's not their fault I wasn't cool growing up...but I do wish they really had the power I thought they did when I put them on that morning so long ago.
